HOSTILE ARCHITECTURE

HOSTILE ARCHITECTURE

A Manifesto around how the future of design should evolve for the better.

For my course on graphic design theory in art history, our final was to create a project about a personal manifesto for how we hope to see design change and evolve in the future. I chose to focus on the rise in hostile architecture and design, creating a stance against the pervasive use of hostile design to control and exclude various populations in urban communities. Through stark imagery and provocative messaging, it confronts the insidious nature of benches with dividers, anti-homeless spikes, and other deterrents, shedding light on the systemic inequalities they perpetuate. This manifesto flyer aims to ignite conversation, mobilize communities, and advocate for inclusive urban environments that prioritize compassion and accessibility for all.
